Abstract: The project is performing a methodical development at an existent experimental installation that has a great level of technicity in order to allow the hypersensitive measuring of the isotopes 129I and 3H. The name of this very avanguard and modern analyzing-measuring method is AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry). The object of the Proposed Project is AMS application for the measuring, monitoring and investigation of 129I and 3H from the environment, for controlling the level of Tritium in the ecosystem, in the vicinity of the nuclear plants (water, air, earth), for the supervision of the nuclear plants activities, for controlling the integrity of nuclear power plats, of water quality and life. AMS will be able to detect any nuclear material release, no mater how small, therefore preventing and eliminating possible vital consequences.
The current Tritium European upper limit-standard for the drinkable water is 2 104 pCi/l or 6,25 10-15 T/H. AMS can monitorize and measure these quotes, therefore efficiently contributing to the protection of the environment, of the health of all beings.
The proposed research also extends to the study of the possibility of using the annual rings of the secular trees for establishing the radioactive contamination history coming from the reprocessing of nuclear residues.

THE STAGES OF THE PROJECT AND DELIVERY DATES
1. The necessity of radiological monitoring of the environment in different locations in Romania and evaluation of the required upgrading work needed for using the AMS method to this aim. (2006-12-06)
2. Optimizing and apparel development of the AMS detection system for 129I measuring; (2007-04-30)
3. Research for sample collection strategy and procedures of AMS chemistry. (2007-08-31)
4. Experimental studies for optimizing the sensibility level of the AMS analysis of 129I, 3H si 2H contained in the environmental samples, in the diverse forms they can be found in the nature (water, vegetation, soil, etc.); (2007-12-05)
5. AMS measurements in order to establish the time accumulation of 129I and the back ground level, representing the pollution level of the environment as a result of the radioactive residues from reprocessing plants; AMS experimental determinations for measuring129I, 3H and 2H isotopes in the areas of interest for nuclear monitoring and for the protection of the environment; (2008-09-25)
