SPECTROSCOPY OF SOME LESS KNOWN ATOMIC NUCLEI proiecte.nipne.ro/pn2/137-projects.html
Acronym: IDEI-127 Contracting Authority: Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) Number / Date of the contract: PN-II-ID-PCE-2011-3-0140 / 2011.10.05 Idei Project Manager: Dorel Bucurescu Partners: - Starting date / finishing date: 2011-10-05 / 2014-10-05 Project value: 1500000 RON Abstract: The project proposes experimental studies of nuclear structure that are complementary to those from the large European facilities (that are focussed on the study of nuclei very far from stability, with radioactive beams) leading to a more detailed knowledge of some atomic nuclei, stable or close to the stability which, for different reasons, are very little known until now. Examples of such proposed research directios are: determination of new excited levels, even at low excitation energies, for nuclei that can be reached by "usual" reactions but are less studied at present; extension of the level schemes in the high spin region; determination of lifetimes of excited nuclear levels; detailed determinations of nuclear structure properties in certain (limited) windows of spin and excitation energy. Some examples of these directions, by particular, proposed nuclei to be measured are: determination of excited levels of the odd-odd nucleus 150Pm (completely unknown until now);high spin states in neutron-deficient nuclei from the A~90 mass region (such as 92Ru, 95Pd); measurements of lifetimes of excited states of low spin in the 120Te nucleus; study of the monopolar (0+ states) and quadrupolar (2+) excitations in the 240Pu nucleus, by the two-neutron transfer reaction (p,t), with high energy resolution.
Objectives: 1) Studies of the level schemes of less known nuclei
2) Nuclear structure studies at high spin
3) Measurements of absolute electromagnetic transition rates (by lifetime measurements in a wide range of values)
4) Detailed study of the monopolar and quadrupolar excitations in nuclei
5)Other nuclear structure studies that stand out as interesting during certain stages of project’s development.
THE STAGES OF THE PROJECT AND DELIVERY DATES 1. Study of the nuclei 150Pm, 120Te, 166Er (2011-12-15) Results 2. Study of A~90 nuclei (95Pd, 91Ru, 92Ru); completion of 120Te, 166Er (2012-12-15) Results 3. New regularities in the structure of the trans-actinide nuclei. Study of the 92Ru nucleus at high spins. Study of the monopolar excitations
in the 240Pu nucleus. (2013-12-15) Results 4. Study of the structure of the 92Ru nucleus at high spins. Study of
the deformed nucleus 166Er by the two-neutron transfer reaction (p,t).
Study of the level scheme of the odd-odd nucleus 150Pm. (2014-12-15) Results 5. Measurements of electromagnetic transition probabilities in the
transitional nucleus 86Zr (2015-12-15) Results 6. New study/experiment (2016-09-30) Results RESULTS
