Abstract: New techniques and experimental devices, some of them being Romanian premiere, are proposed to be used for the study of the medium and high-spin states in nuclei close to the quasi-doubly-magic 90Zr. It is well known that the spectroscopic data in the region is used to define effective interactions further used to predict the properties of much further from stability. From this reason the completitude of the experimental data available is extremely important. In the frame of the present project we propose to use the mixed gamma detectors array ROSPHERE, recently commissioned at the 9 MV TANDEM accelerator of IFIN-HH for a novel approach of the nuclear spectroscopy in the region: bu using the in-beam fast timing technique will become possible to measure lifetime of excited states that were not available in the past. These are fundamental quantities that will allow to understand the structure of particularly important states in 91Zr or other neighbouring nuclei, evidencing the degree of octupole collectivity or possible single-particle character of the wave functions. The new experimental data foreseen to be determined within the project is of paramount importance for the correct understanding of the nuclear structure in the region.
