Abstract: THE PROJECT HAS THE AIM TO PROVIDE NEW DATA CONCERNING THE PROPERTIES OF EXCITED NUCLEI THROUGH ELECTROMAGNETIC MOMENT DETERMINATIONS. IT IMPLIES EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCHES OF A HIGH DEGREE OF COMPLEXITY, PERFORMED IN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATIONS. THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES ENDORSE TOPICS OF LARGE CURRENT INTEREST, WHICH ARE POLARIZING AT PRESENT THE ACTIVITIES IN NUCLEAR RESEARCH LABORATORIES ALL OVER THE WORLD. A FIRST OBJECTIVE IS THE DETAILED STUDY OF HIGH-SPIN STATES AND INTRUDER EXCITATIONS IN LIGHT NUCLEI FROM THE A=30-40 REGION. FOR THE FIRST TIME THE ISOSPIN SYMMETRY BREAKING IN THE MIRROR NUCLEI OF THE REGION WILL VE INVESTIGATED BY LIFETIME MEASUREMENTS FOR EXCITED ANALOGUE STATES. ANOTHER OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT IS TO EXTEND THE STATIC MOMENT MEASUREMENTS IN THE REGION OF PB NUCLEI VERY FAR FROM STABILITY. ISOMERIC STATES WITH NORMAL AND INTRUDER CONFIGURATIONS WILL BE STUDIED, AND THE ROLE OF THE SPECIFIC CONFIGURATIONS IN THE OCCURRENCE OF THE SHAPE COEXISTENCE WILL BE EXPLORED. THE POSSIBILITY TO USE THE SHORT LIVED ISOMERIC STATES AS PROBES FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF FISSION PRODUCTS, RESULTING FROM THE FISSION OF THE COMPOUND SYSTEMS PRODUCED BY IRRADIATING HEAVY TARGETS WITH MEDIUM-MASS PROJECTILES, WILL BE ALSO EXPLORED.
