Abstract: Heavy ion collisions at velocities close to the Fermi velocity of nucleons in nuclei (v~c/4)is a very good tool to study nuclear matter properties at extreme temperature and densities. These sudies have shown that the excited nuclei prepared in this way can decay either by emitting few big fragments (Z>=5) or by many light particles with Z<5 (evaporation). The transition with energy between these decay modes is analogous with the liquid-gas phase transition. In order to investigate such a transition in nuclear reactions we propose to measure the energy and momentum for fragments (charge identified) and light particles (charge and mass identified), emitted in nuclear reactions: Xe+Sn and Gd+U. From the measured quantities we will try to reconstruct the excitation enegy and temperature of the original nuclei and obtain in this way the phase-transition diagram for these nuclear systems.
