Abstract: THE PROJECT AIMS TO OBTAIN ORIGINAL THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMETAL INFORMATION IN A VERY ACTUAL FIELD OF STUDY. THE TWO MECANISMS THAT LEAD TO FORMATION OF MOST STABLE NUCLEI HEAVIER THAN IRON ARE GENERALLY DESCRIBED BY TWO PROCESSES: CAPTURE OF SLOW NETRONS(S-PROCESS) AND CAPTURE OF FAST NEUTRONS(R-PROCESS). A THIRD PROCESS, P-PROCESS IS INVOLVED IN THE CREATION OF THE 35 PROTON-REACH STABLE NUCLEI. THE ABOUNDANCES OF THESE NUCLEI IS TIPICALLY ONLY A FRACTION OF THE TOTAL ISOTOPIC ABUNDACE. THESE P-NUCLEI, BETWEEN SE AND HG, ARE SUROUNDED BY STABLE NUCLEI FORMED BY S AND R PROCESSES. HUNDREDS OR EVEN THOUNSADS OF REACTION CROSS-SECTIONS,INVOLVING BOTH STABLE AND PROTON-RICH UNSBLE NUCLEI, ARE NEEDED FOR A PRECISE DESCRIPTION OF THE NUCLEOSINTHESIS OF P-TYPE NUCLEI, BUT NO SYSTEMATIC EFORT IN THIS FIELD WAS PREVIOUSLY ATTEMPTED. MOST OF THE NEEDED CROSS-SECTIONS INVOLVE VERY DIFFICULT DIRECT MEASUREMENTS OF GAMA INDUCED REACTIONS. A MORE FEASIBLE APPROACH IS TO MEASURE THE CROSS-SECTIONS OF THE NUCLEI PRODUCED IN INVERSE PARTICLE INDUCED REACTIONS, AND THEN OBTAIN THE PHOTODESINTEGRATION CROSS-SECTUION BY APPLYING THE DETAILED EQUILIBRIUM PRINCIPLE, ASSUMING THAT ALL THE INVOLVED NUCLEI ARE IN THERMODYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO MEASURE THE CAPTURE CROSS-SECTIONS 115SN(ALPHA,GAMMA)119TE AND 117SN(ALPHA,GAMMA)121TE REACTIONS USING AN ACTIVATION TECHNIQUE. THE ENERGY RANGE CONSIDERED FOR THESE MEASUREMENTS IS BETWEEN 9MEV AND 16MEV. THE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUE IMPLIES THE BOMBARDING OF A TARGET WITH THE PURPOSE OF CREATING A SUFICIENTLY LONG LIVED NUCLEUS THAT CAN BE MEASURED AFTER THE IRADIATION END.
