NUCLEAR ACTIVATION DATA ADVANCED STUDIES: THEORY AND EVALUATION FOR FAST NEUTRONS proiecte.nipne.ro/pn2/69-projects.html Extended website: http://tandem.nipne.ro/~vavrig/Projects/PN2P3_448/index.htm
Acronym: CA-DANTE Contracting Authority: Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) Number / Date of the contract: CNCSIS 448 / 10.06.2009 Idei Project Manager: Vlad Avrigeanu Partners: Starting date / finishing date: 2009-06-01 / 2011-10-31 Project value: 1000000 RON Abstract: THIS PROJECT AIMS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTION TO SOLUTIONS FOR BASIC PROBLEMS STILL EXISTING WITHIN NUCLEAR DATA EVALUATIONS BASED ON THE NUCLEAR MODELS USE, REQUESTED AT THEIR TURN BY ACTUAL DEMANDS OF THE SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF NUCLEAR INSTALLATIONS AND FEASIBILITY STUDY OF SYSTEMS FOR WASTE TRANSMUTATION CONCEPTS. THESE PROBLEMS WERE POINTED OUT BY OWN RESULTS OF THE AUTHORS OF THIS PROPOSAL, WITHIN RECENT ISI PUBLICATIONS, AS WELL AS BY REVIEWS OF EUROPEAN PROJECTS CARRIED OUT WITH CONTRIBUTION OF THESE AUTHORS TOO (EURATOM AND OECD/NEA DATA-BANK JOINT EUROPEAN FISSION AND FUSION - JEFF, EURATOM INTERNATIONAL FUSION MATERIAL IRRADIATION FACILITY - IFMIF, AND IAEA/NDS REFERENCE INPUT PARAMETER LIBRARY - RIPL PROJECTS).
THUS, IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THIS PROJECT, THERE ARE INTENDED DEVELOPMENTS OF THE DESCRIPTION OF REACTION MECHANISMS WHICH ARE RELEVANT TO INCIDENT FAST NEUTRONS WITH ENERGIES UP TO 100 MEV. FIRSTLY, THERE WILL BE CONCERNED THE STILL OPEN QUESTIONS OF THE CORRESPONDING PRE-EQUILIBRIUM EMISSION WITHIN STATISTICAL PROCESSES, WITH REFERENCE TO THEIR BASIC ASSUMPTIONS AS WELL AS THE SENSITIVITY OF THE NUCLEAR-MODEL RESULTS TO CHANGES OF THE MAIN MODEL PARAMETERS AS THE OPTICAL MODEL POTENTIALS, LEVEL DENSITY PARAMETERS, AND GAMMA-RAY STRENGTH FUNCTIONS. THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS WILL BE SEARCHED FOR, IN ORDER TO AVOID COMPENSATION OF OPPOSITE EFFECTS DUE TO VARIOUS LESS ACCURATE PARAMETER VALUES, BY MEANS OF (I) UNITARY USE OF COMMON MODEL PARAMETERS OF DIFFERENT MECHANISMS CONCERNED AT ONCE, (II) USE OF CONSISTENT INPUT PARAMETERS DETERMINED BY ANALYSIS OF VARIOUS INDEPENDENT DATA, AND (III) SISTEMATIC ACCOUNT OF WHOLE BODY OF RELATED DATA FOR ISOTOPE CHAINS AND/OR NEARBY ATOMIC ELEMENTS.
THE INCREASED LEVEL OF COMPUTING RESOURCES REQUESTED BY THE ABOVE-MENTIONED GOALS WILL BE ACHIEVED BY ADVANCED COMPUTER CALCULATION TECHNIQUES SUCH AS THE PARALLEL COMPUTING, TAKING THE ADVANTAGE OF THE ALREADY EXISTING EXPERIENCES OF THE YOUNGER MEMBERS OF OUR TEAM.
Objectives:
THE STAGES OF THE PROJECT AND DELIVERY DATES 1. Analysis of the fast-neutron reaction cross sections for the 53,54Cr isotopes at neutron incident energies E<60 MeV (2009-12-15) 2. Emisia la preechilibru in reactii induse de neutroni rapizi la energii incidente <60 MeV pe izotopii stabili ai Hf si Ta (2010-10-31) 3. Systematic analysis of PE neutron induced reactions at E<60 MeV on heavy nuclei (A~150-200) (2011-10-31) RESULTS
