Biophysical and in vitro studies of hybrid delivery nanostructures for anticancer peptides proiecte.nipne.ro/pn3/67-projects.html
Acronym: BioNPsACP Contracting Authority: UEFISCDI Number / Date of the contract: TE 159 / 2022 PN III: P1 Project Manager: Mihaela Bacalum Partners: Starting date / finishing date: 2022-06-27 / 2024-06-26 Project value: 450000 RON Abstract: The approach of this project focuses on finding more efficient delivery systems and is characterized by both novelty and originality. First, we will use organically modified silica (Ormosil) as drug carriers into which we will incorporate ACPs. This will address problems with ACP delivery to cells and also reduce toxicity to healthy cells. What is innovative about our approach is that this is the first time that ACPs have been incorporated into Ormosils. Second, this project aims to study the response of cancerous and healthy human cells that are classically cultured in monolayer (2D), but also in a 3D tumor model, which is clearly an improvement over conventional approaches.
Objectives: Obtaining new bio-inorganic nanoparticles as efficient devices for gradual release of anticancer peptides;
Anticancer efficiency/therapeutic index (TI) of ACP-NPs in cancerous vs healthy human cells cultured in monolayer or in 3D spheroid;
ACP-NPs interaction with lipid membranes.
